Mother’s Day is once a year and often times it can be difficult to think of a gift that captures the emotion and love we feel. This year I thought of a way to incorporate photography as a gift that my clients could choose to give to their mothers’ or even family members. Women love flowers and it’s one of those first things that come to mind when we think about gifting options. With this in mind I included wearable floral arrangements as part of our Mothers’ day photo session package. The idea was to offer a triple gift with this package: flowers, a memorable photo session, and time spent as a family. This works with kids of all ages and/or even the whole family together. What better way to celebrate the day than to do something as a family!
When working to showcase the project, Iryna and I both participated and took photos with our kids to show that the concept works for everyone. This photo session meant so much for both of us and I’m glad that we not only had the experience but got to keep these photographs of forever. While they’ll get older and become adults, the images of them at that point in time for Mother’s Day will always mean so much! We wanted to focus on capturing the love and connection between a mother and her child. Flower’s give a soft and elegant look and they certainly added a unique touch to these portraits as well as represent the delicate yet strong nature of motherhood.

For the photos of me and my son, we wore arrangements of green and white tones. My son rocked the cutest bow tie made one hundred percent from true floral pieces. I wore matching floral earrings and a wearable neck accessory. Iryna and her daughter had a more feminine color palette with soft pinks, beige, and white. She created an elegant headpiece for her daughter that matched her own necklace; all made from natural earthy and floral pieces. The matching arrangements for both Iryna and her daughter and my son and I really helped to visually show our connection to our kids.

Whenever I work on a new concept, I always ask myself if it is something I would like to do as well. This project made me so happy as I was able to not only offer it as a Mother’s Day special but also go through the experience myself. Having done so, I understand my clients better and how to accommodate and give them a gift they’ll cherish forever. The bond between a mother and her child should be celebrated in the best way! For the coming years I hope to reach even more clients and provide for them the happiness and fun that it was to participate in this shoot. As you all know, I’m always learning and perfecting my work, this concept may have even more fun and exciting options next year, so be on the lookout!
