Boudoir photography has become rather popular in the past couple of years, with clients seeking to create beautiful artwork they can cherish, hang up and frame, or make into a photo book for their partners. Yet when it comes to photography, posing is a key component that can accentuate each person’s natural curves for the best visually interesting photo. Below are the five most popular poses that can be achieved on a bed when doing boudoir photoshoots.

The first pose will be on the stomach with the hands at the edge of the bed. The key here is to place the hands in a soft and elegant form that will not only look natural but also create triangle shapes that will be appealing to the composition of the photo. It is important to always arch the back and lift up the booty up to accentuate the curves. Just as important is for the toes to always be pointed to achieve a ballerina look. For this pose, the knee closest to the camera will be bent a little, while the foot of that same leg will fall above the other in a “hugging” form. This will be more comfortable and will make it easier to raise the booty and arch the back. This pose is simple to start with before we focus on more complex poses.

The second pose is a similar but we will be changing it up a bit. This time we will be facing the foot of the bed and keeping their upper body low while fully raising their lower body. This is achieved by balancing on the knees and raising the feet up in the air. For composition purposes, one foot will be raised higher than the other creating a triangular shape. Remember to keep those feet pointed! Arching the back as much as possible in this pose while keeping the eyes closed and expression soft will give a serene and elegant look.

For the third pose we will be on the side with the lower body turned toward the camera. The upper body will be raise which will accentuate the waist line and make the subject look taller. A smile or giggle is great for this pose! Move the hair to the opposite side of where the photo is being taken to highlight the neck and provide lighting to the face.

From the third pose one can easily go to the fourth pose by laying on their back. The head is still towards the foot of the bed and this time it will be turned slightly to the side. Arrange the hair in a way that is visible and natural. The knees will be turned to the opposite side, giving a nice “s” shape that will make the natural curves stand out. The left hand can be placed palm up below the chest area to add more shapes to the composition of the photo. This is a more relaxed pose yet very visually appealing, slightly parting the lips can add a final touch depending on the mood you wish to create.

The fifth pose really highlights the body by laying on the side across the bed, front facing the camera. Bent and cross the upper knee over and place the upper hand across the body towards the legs. This will leave most of the body visible while guiding the eye to different points of the picture. The second hand can be placed towards the lips, merely touching or even between the lips will give equal results. This pose highlights the natural curves of the body, especially the hips. It’s a bit more challenging and on the sexier side for those feeling adventurous.
