Red Flame

Floral Portraits by Yuliya Panchenko

We often hear that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but there is no denying the ethereal beauty of flowers. The Botanical Beauty project uses the splendor of botanical products to allure to the natural glamour that each of us already possesses. We use different flowers, colors, and styles to best suit our clients. The goal is to create luxurious designs that enhance the characteristics of each person we work with in order to create art that holds not just beauty, but personality and power. Our expectation is that the photographs will make those who come upon it feel something. After all, is that not what art is truly about?

The “Red Flame” session is one of many in the Botanical Beauty series and the Floral Portraits niche that I’ve developed in the past year. For this session, I worked with florist Iryna Shulzhenko who picked fiery colors for the floral design to best suit the theme we were looking to create. With our client Solange in mind, we decided to give this design a sensual edge to highlight her Hispanic heritage and personality.

The red and orange hues of the flowers perfectly added a passion-based appeal to the final look and suited her overall aesthetic. The design itself was created to the client’s body type and adjusted at the shoot during the floral application process. Iryna created a hat made solemnly of flowers, along with jewelry pieces such as rings and earrings to fully encapture the completed look. The setting was styled as retro with an old desk, radio, vintage books, and a cigarette holder which Solange used as a prop during the shooting process. The fabric skirt was designed and created by designer Inna Rudenko made specifically for our client to wear for the “Red Flame” session. The team worked closely together to ensure every detail matched, an example is the shade of the skirt matching the shade of the flowers used.

When working with my clients for Botanical Beauty projects it’s important to understand them on a personal level as well as their interior design. Through multiple zoom meetings before the day of the photoshoot we learn details that are essential when creating these luxurious exclusive portraits. Our “Red Flame” client stated that “the whole experience felt personal and to my taste, there is no other team like the one I had the pleasure of working with.” Final prints are selected and given to our clients for them to hang up at their home. While there are many portrait photographers, I pride on offering a style, niche, and service that is exclusively mine and caters to each individual client I work with. Becoming one with nature is not an everyday opportunity, be unique.
